Series recap
Tigs lose 5-1 in the final game of a four game set against the Sox... a lot of fans will now jump off the bandwaggon after losing one game in this series, but let's be honest? did anyone think we would take 3 of 4 this weekend? No. Huge wins for the tigs and I hope this is just an indication of what will happen in the next couple of months... I'm eager to see if the team will do anything at the deadline, but don't get excited because it's likely they will stay put where they are now. Forget getting Roy Halladay or Adam Dunn. I'm thinking if anything will happen it would be for a lesser known name, such as Aubrey Huff, Josh Willingham, or a relief pitcher... but nothing major. Another big series on the schedule with the high powered offense of the Texas Rangers, but the tigs have been known to beat around their pitching this season....

Tigers doubleheader
Wow what a day for the tigers... two big wins to put them in first by two games. Two more big games await them on saturday and sunday on national tv. It was ironic that on a day that Matt Holliday was traded, a guy the Tigers had been linked to, Carlos Guillen comes back and goes 2-3 and knocks a bomb to right field... WE NEED A BAT??? yes i still think so, sorry... not at the table carlos. Excited for the 2 games coming up and another big series with Texas... go tigs!
Tigers series vs White Sox
So I didn't want this to happen, but it did. The Tigers and white sox are tied with each other atop the AL Central going into a four game set at Comerica Park this starting today @ 1pm. This is when we find out what the Tigers are made of, going up against a rival at home with the division lead on the line. LETS GO TIGERS!! It's going to be a playoff atmosphere in Detroit, and I'm excited to hopefully see this team step up to the plate, in more ways than one. Verlander toes the rubber during the day game against Jose Contreras, which you would think should be a no brainer... Tigs win. But the way this team has been offensively as of late, nothing is for sure. For the night cap, it figures to be an offensive game with Eddie Bonine against Bartolo Colon, two not too good pitchers. Saturday, we see a solid pitching matchup with Edwin (the savior) Jackson against Gavin Floyd. And on Sunday we got Rick Porcello hoping to bounce back against Clayton Richard. All I can say is thank god Buehrle got his perfect game out of the way vs Tampa and we don't have to see him in the series. With the pitching matchups we have, I feel there is no reason the Tigs shouldn't take 3 out of 4 and take control of the division heading into the last week before the trading deadline. Going to be an interesting weekend to say the least....

Tigers, pistons
The tigers are pissing me off.... how can this supposedly "potent" offense not put up more than one damn run!!!! Over the weekend we get gem pitching performances from Edwin Jackson and Justin Verlander and lose 2-1, only to have Gallaragga pitch amazing and lose 2-1 again. If you ask me, pitching doesn't seem to be the problem. We need to get a bat, so I guess forget the Halladay talk and go after the other Holliday on the market, Matt that is. Honestly I don't care who they get, as long as its a big bat. Guillen's status is questionable to make a move Dommer. If we don't make a move, the White Sox and Twins will pass us before we can say Home Run.
The pistons offseason is making me quite excited about upcoming season. The Chris Wilcox signing is a bigger one than everyone thinks. When he started in Seattle/OKC, he was a 13 and 7 guy, which I would love to see in a Pistons uni. The summer league guys... Daye, Summers, and Jerebko look promising and its looking like they all will get significant minutes once the real games start. I'm excited to see what this completely new team will do. However, Rip needs to be shipped ASAP. We are not going to give Ben Gordon 10 mil a yr to sit on the bench, so go out and get a Big man.

Tigers, Pistons, Lions
The tigers, stones, and lions have created a bit of an uproar these past few days. As for the tigers, they dropped the first of three games to the Royals by blowing a lead in the late innings only to win the next two games of the series. Also, in relation to my previous post, Adam Dunn is no longer going to be traded according to the Nationals GM so forget about it. As for Luke French... all I can say is wow I am impressed that he was able to beat out Greinke, one of the AL's top pitchers. Some trade talks have been surrounding the Detroit area about Roy Halladay. My opinion is, get it done if we want another pitcher. I know Halladay is 32 years old, and we would have to part with Porcello, but this guy has another 7 or 8 good years in him. He is arguably the best pitcher in the majors right now and I say we ship Wilkin Ramirez, Ryan Perry, and Rick Porcello for Halladay and a mid level prospect. Can you imagine a rotation with Verlander, Jackson, and Halladay? WOW!
Moving on to the Stones... BG and CV are officially members of the pistons, which means rip is on his way out. Just trade him for Boozer already and deal with the injury prone, yet powerful scoring PF for one year. His contract would come off the books for 2010 and we could sign a premier PF such as Chris Bosh. I've also heard some talk of a Maxiell and Kwame Brown for Tyson Chandler deal , which I would also like if we are able to pull off a Brandon Bass signing as well. What I would like more though, would be a Tayshaun for Chris Kaman straight up deal... it leaves a whole at SF but we drafted three of them this yr so throw one of them into the fire. A legit big like Kaman would be amazing for this team.
And lastly... the lowly Lions. Talk has been swirling that although Daunte Culpepper has shown great signs of wanting this starting job by losing 30 pounds and mastering the playbook, all signs point to Stafford starting the season. ....heavy sigh..... please Lions, just start Culpepper for the first six weeks til the bye week, prep Stafford and start him after the week off. It would be the ideal situation for Stafford to learn in. I'm getting anxious for the NFL season to start even coming off of an 0-16 season. This team DOES show promise no matter what anyone says about the draft from this year. Every position can't be filled in one season and the Lions are headed in the right direction. Right now I'm predicting 4 wins... and a couple years away from playoffs once our young guys mature a bit. It's looking up Lions fans whether you want to believe it or not.

Tigers update: 7-5-07
So the tigers just dropped another one to the Minnesota Twins today at the Metrodrome 6-2. If you ask my opinion, WE NEED ANOTHER BAT!!!! The Tigers need to do something at the deadline, whether it be adding starting pitching or bullpen help, or another solid bat. Please Dombrowski, do something with your life and go out and get Aubrey Huff, I mean come on, he is going to be shipped for almost nothing. Ship Jeff Larish outta here with another shit prospect and get it done. We need a guy who can hit for power like him and he would give reassure the Tigers offense a bit. And I know a lot of people are saying to go get Adam Dunn because he will give you those power numbers... but let's be honest... do we really want to pay his large salary while giving up emerging prospects such as Ryan Perry and Wilkin Ramirez? I think not... come on Dommer, do the right thing and make this team a playoff contender and not just one of those teams that lays low at the deadline and flakes out after the all star break.
